No Casualties in the Province... Localized Strong Winds and Heavy Rain Expected
Typhoon Advisory for All of Gangwon... Strong Wind Advisory Issued for Cheorwon and Hwacheon
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-chul] Due to the impact of Typhoon No. 11 'Hinnamnor,' as of 7 a.m. on the 6th, typhoon warnings have been issued for 7 cities and counties in Gangwon Province, and typhoon advisories have been issued for 9 cities and counties. Strong wind advisories have been issued for 2 cities and counties, Cheorwon and Hwacheon.
According to the Gangwon Provincial Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on the 6th, the areas under typhoon warnings are Gangneung, Donghae, Taebaek, Samcheok, Yeongwol, Pyeongchang, and Jeongseon County, while the areas under typhoon advisories are Chuncheon, Wonju, Sokcho, Hongcheon, Hoengseong, Yanggu, Inje, Goseong, and Yangyang County.
The typhoon warnings are expected to continue in most cities and counties from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the 6th, and the total rainfall in the province from the 4th to the 6th is expected to reach 100 to 300 mm.
Locally, in Yeongseo, heavy rain of 50 mm per hour accompanied by strong winds of 15 to 20 m/s is expected, and in Yeongdong, heavy rain of 50 to 100 mm per hour accompanied by strong winds of 30 to 40 m/s may occur.
As of 7 a.m. on the 6th, the accumulated rainfall in the province recorded 253 mm in Chuncheon, 252 mm in Yanggu, 249 mm in Hwacheon, and 235.8 mm in Hongcheon.
As of this day, there have been no casualties in the province due to Hinnamnor, and 63 residents from 44 households in areas at risk of damage have been preemptively evacuated to village halls and other safe locations.
Facility and property damages have been identified as 2 cases of soil runoff, 1 case of damage to water control facilities, 1 case of fence and retaining wall collapse, 4 hectares of fallen rice crops, and 0.3 hectares of flooded cabbage fields.
The current control status in the province includes ▲dam discharge (Uiam Dam 2,500㎥/s, Chuncheon Dam 1,700㎥/s) ▲4 national park trails (Seoraksan, Odaesan, Chiaksan, Taebaeksan) ▲5 general roads (Gangneung Simgok~Geumjin Heonhwaro, Chuncheon Namsan Ido Route 201, Yeongwol Jucheon County Road No. 1, Goseong Geojin 1-ri Coastal Road, Inje Buk-myeon Yongdae-ri Misiryeong Old Road) ▲1 riverbed road (Yanggu Dong-myeon Deokgokgyo) ▲2 Sewol bridges (Gangneung Wangsang-myeon Nochusan Healing Camping Site, Sokcho Domun-dong 1624-4) ▲5 riverside walking trails (Chuncheon Gongjicheon, Chuncheon Mancheoncheon, Chuncheon Soyang River, Hwacheon Hwacheoncheon, Yanggu Hanbando Island) ▲11 floodplain parking lots (Gangneung 1, Donghae 1, Yeongwol 2, Hongcheon 1, Pyeongchang 3, Jeongseon 2, Yangyang 1) ▲2 passenger ferry routes suspended (Gangneung~Ulleung, Donghae Mukho~Ulleung), etc.
The Provincial Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters stated, "We will do our utmost to respond until we are completely free from the impact of the typhoon," and urged, "Residents are advised to refrain from going out, stay in safe places, and pay close attention to the national action guidelines."
