Emergency Duty System Activated Until Typhoon Warning Is Lifted

Seunghwa Lee, Sancheong County Governor, Holds Meeting on Typhoon Damage Prevention Measures County Governor Lee Seunghwa is holding the 11th Typhoon Hinnamnor countermeasure meeting.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is making every effort to prevent damage by conducting on-site pre-inspections in preparation for the approach of Typhoon No. 11 ‘Hinnamnor’.


The county is fully committed to preemptive measures as the Sancheong area is expected to come under the typhoon’s influence from the 5th to the 6th.


Typhoon No. 11 ‘Hinnamnor’ is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds.


Since August 31, Sancheong-gun has organized inspection teams by each department and division to inspect vulnerable facilities throughout the region for disaster prevention and response.


The county conducted comprehensive inspections by sector, including the water level status at business sites in disaster-prone areas, securing of crops and facilities at risk of falling, pre-evacuation status in landslide-prone and steep slope collapse risk areas, operation and management status of drainage pump stations, and control status of low-lying riverside and embankment parking lots.


County Governor Lee Seung-hwa checked areas at risk of human casualties during the pre-inspection period, landslide-prone areas, solar power facilities in mountainous areas, Sinan Wonji embankment parking lot, vinyl greenhouses, and the securing status of signboards.


For proactive preparation, the county held a situation assessment meeting chaired by the Safety General Manager on the 1st, a situation assessment meeting chaired by the Deputy County Governor on the 2nd, and a countermeasure meeting chaired by Governor Lee on the 4th, ordering thorough preparation on key response measures by each department.


Governor Lee said, “This typhoon is expected to bring not only heavy rain but also strong winds, so full preparation is necessary to prevent damage such as fruit drop and falling facilities. I ask everyone to pay special attention to facility management and safety accidents to protect the lives and property of our residents.”


On the morning of the 4th at 9 a.m., the county declared Emergency Level 1 and activated an emergency duty system with one-tenth of all public officials on standby. The emergency level will be raised depending on weather conditions, and the emergency duty system will be maintained until the typhoon is lifted.
