[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) is recruiting participants for the first "Jungnang Vision Roundtable Meeting" of the 8th local government term, to be held on the 4th of next month.
The Jungnang Vision Roundtable Meeting is a forum that gathers about 100 residents from various age groups and walks of life to collect policy ideas by sector and share opinions. It is a communication platform to openly share the future vision of the region with residents and to gather creative and fresh ideas.
The roundtable meeting is a campaign pledge of Mayor Ryu, reflecting his commitment to decide policies and operate the district administration over the next four years based on residents' participation and opinions. This will be the fourth meeting since the first one held in 2018.
The district is recruiting a total of 140 residents to participate in the roundtable meeting. Anyone, including residents, local students, and workers, can apply. The application period is from September 5 to September 16. Applications can be submitted by visiting the Planning and Budget Division of Jungnang-gu Office, the local community service centers, or online through the district office website.
Participants will be selected by the end of September, considering gender, age, and region to ensure diverse opinions. The final 140 selected participants will complete a pre-survey on the discussion topics before attending the meeting.
The roundtable meeting next month will begin with sharing the vision, followed by discussions on future visions and policy proposals for seven major visions including economy, education, culture, welfare, and cooperative governance. It will also include candid conversations with the mayor and presentations of excellent policy proposals. Ideas discovered during the discussions will be reflected in the district administration’s work plans and operations.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “The ‘Jungnang Vision Roundtable Meeting’ is a representative body of residents that serves as a communication and empathy platform among various generations and reflects voices from the field into policies.” He added, “We look forward to the participation of many local residents who love Jungnang and will think together and propose good policy ideas for the development of Jungnang.”
Gangnam-gu (Mayor Cho Sung-myung) appointed 44 experts from various fields including administration, welfare, urban planning, and transportation as members of the ‘8th Local Government Term Gangnam-gu Policy Advisory Committee’ at a ceremony held on the 2nd at 10 a.m. in the large conference room on the 3rd floor of the district office main building.
The newly reorganized 8th term Policy Advisory Committee consists of six subcommittees by field?▲Administration Committee ▲Planning and Economy Committee ▲Health and Welfare Committee ▲Smart Culture Committee ▲Urban Environment Committee ▲Safety and Transportation Committee?and an Innovation Committee responsible for discovering innovation tasks and coordinating among subcommittees for professional and efficient meeting operations.
Chairman of the committee was appointed as Kang Seok-ho, Chairman of the International Vocational Competency Development Exchange Association.
The appointed members will serve a two-year term, providing advice on identifying problems and proposing alternatives during the implementation of policy pledges, resolving district administration issues and contentious matters, and will first begin by reviewing the implementation plan of the 8th term Gangnam-gu mayor’s pledges.
Mayor Cho Sung-myung of Gangnam-gu said, “I am ready to accept advice, encouragement, and sometimes harsh criticism,” and added, “I hope you carefully review various policies for Gangnam’s leap forward and provide valuable insights.”
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) held a full meeting of the district advisory body, the ‘Together Eutteum Gwanak Innovation and Cooperative Governance Committee,’ on the 31st of last month to discuss the ‘4-Year District Administration Operation Plan,’ which is the direction for district administration over the 8th local government term.
The Together Eutteum Gwanak Innovation and Cooperative Governance Committee, composed of representatives from various sectors, external experts, and local residents, is an advisory committee that directly participates in the formulation and implementation stages of major district policies, integrating private sector expertise and creativity into district administration to realize cooperative governance.
At the full meeting, the committee reviewed the ‘Pledge Implementation Plan’ consisting of 58 policy tasks under six major goals established by the 8th term policy planning team, and added projects with high resident impact and policy necessity to the 4-year district administration operation plan.
The added tasks include the ‘Youth Dream Wings Project,’ ‘Expansion of Gwanak-type Dementia Safe Village Operation,’ and ‘Strengthening Health Promotion for the Disabled.’ The ‘Harmony Knowledge Center Operation’ task was adjusted to be integrated with existing projects due to overlap, considering efficient budget execution and policy effectiveness.
Thus, the ‘4-Year District Administration Operation Plan’ consisting of 60 policy tasks under six major goals was reviewed and approved. The district plans to prepare detailed implementation and management measures based on this and will make every effort to secure budgets and promote projects to thoroughly fulfill the pledged projects promised to residents.
The six major goals and policy tasks of the 8th term Gwanak district administration are ▲‘Together Economy’ with 7 tasks ▲‘Together Welfare’ with 13 tasks ▲‘Youth Special City’ with 8 tasks ▲‘Eutteum Education and Culture’ with 10 tasks ▲‘Clean and Safe Living Environment’ with 17 tasks ▲and ‘Innovative Gwanak Office’ with 5 tasks.
Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, stated, “We will strengthen cooperative governance created by both the public and private sectors through active communication with experts and residents from various fields throughout the entire process from planning to execution of district administration.”
