National Assembly Culture Committee Opposition Whip Kim Yoon-duk "Preparing Legislation to Preserve, Manage, and Operate the Blue House"
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 4th, Kim Yoon-duk, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced that he has proposed a bill titled the "Special Act on the Preservation, Management, and Utilization of Cheongwadae" to systematize the preservation and management in order to prevent damage following the opening of Cheongwadae.
According to Kim's office, the bill stipulates restricted activities at Cheongwadae and the criteria for their approval, and through measures such as establishing a five-year basic preservation and utilization plan and annual implementation plans, setting up a democratic review committee, and designating a Cheongwadae management authority, it aims to preserve Cheongwadae for future generations while allowing appropriate utilization for the present generation.
Kim, the opposition party secretary of the National Assembly's Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee, explained that the bill was completed through discussions based on a draft created by a law school intern from his office and through communication with the general public.
Kim stated, "Cheongwadae is a cultural heritage that must be passed on to the future, so preservation and management measures should be prioritized before exploring utilization methods," and added, "Since this is a matter of public interest, the bill was prepared to reflect the voices of the people so that Cheongwadae can be preserved, managed, and operated, and I expect it to pass the National Assembly as soon as possible."
