[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seoul's autonomous districts have entered a promotional war.
The enthusiasm for promotion is heating up in each autonomous district. In particular, with former Seoul city spokespersons and media officers being consecutively appointed as deputy district heads, it appears they are stepping up their promotional efforts.
In the second half personnel reshuffle of Seoul city, Lee Young-gi, former head of the Gwanghwamun Square Promotion Team, and Kang Ok-hyun, former head of the Judicial Police Unit, were appointed as deputy district heads of Gwanak-gu and Yangcheon-gu respectively.
Notably, they are experts who understand the importance of the media better than anyone, having served as media officers for Seoul city.
Lee Young-gi, a civil service exam graduate and deputy district head of Gwanak-gu, previously served as deputy district head of Yeongdeungpo-gu, making this his second term. He is well-versed in autonomous district affairs and possesses a promotional mindset, drawing attention to whether the Gwanak-gu promotional system will undergo significant changes. Since his inauguration, Lee has emphasized the importance of promotion during departmental work reports, reportedly making executives nervous. Additionally, after his appointment, the previously monthly promotional strategy meetings have been increased to twice a month to review government and Seoul city policies and discuss their reflection in the autonomous district.
Kang Ok-hyun, deputy district head of Yangcheon-gu and a Seoul National University of Science and Technology alumnus who was promoted to grade 3 while serving as a media officer, is also known to focus on strengthening promotional capabilities by emphasizing a promotional mindset.
Alongside them, Ahn Jun-ho, deputy district head of Gangnam-gu and former Seoul city spokesperson, has served as deputy district head of Geumcheon-gu and Songpa-gu, making this his third term. He possesses profound expertise in autonomous district administration.
Attention is focused on what kind of work Deputy District Head Ahn will produce by leading the Gangnam-gu Policy Promotion Office.
Meanwhile, Nowon-gu has Kim In-cheol, a former Seoul city spokesperson, serving as deputy district head for several years, and Jang Joo-hyun, who has been vertically promoted from press officer to media team leader to promotion manager, has gained extensive experience in the promotional field, establishing a stable system.
Among Seoul's autonomous districts, Seongdong-gu, which leads in the promotional field, continues to hold weekly promotional strategy meetings led by former deputy district head Han Young-hee and current deputy district head Yoo Bo-hwa.
An official from a Seoul autonomous district suggested, "In fact, since autonomous district administrations are similar, the status of a district can change depending on how impressive the promotional work they produce is."
It seems natural that autonomous districts equipped with promotional systems that can actively respond to crises such as floods and lead stable policy promotion during normal times receive favorable evaluations.
