Changwon Mayor Hong Nampyo convenes emergency meeting for Typhoon Hinnamnor response... "Let's ensure no one is lost or injured" Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, held an emergency countermeasure meeting to respond to Typhoon Hinnamnor No. 11.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, convened an emergency countermeasure meeting on the morning of the 3rd to respond to Typhoon Hinnamnor.

Mayor Hong stated, "Due to the impact of Typhoon Hinnamnor No. 11, our region is expected to experience heavy rain, strong winds, and high waves," and instructed, "Ensure thorough pre-inspection of various facilities and vulnerable areas to prevent damage."

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the Changwon area will enter the direct and indirect influence zone of the typhoon starting from the morning of the 5th.

The KMA forecasted heavy rainfall of 50 to 100 mm per hour, with total precipitation expected to exceed 500 mm in some areas.

Strong winds with maximum instantaneous wind speeds exceeding 50 m/s are also predicted, especially along coastal areas.

Changwon City announced that, given the forecast of heavy rain and strong winds in coastal areas, it is focusing on safety management in low-lying coastal flood zones and areas vulnerable to storm surges.

They have inspected underground passages, stormwater detention facilities, and drainage pumping stations, and completed preparations to operate them immediately in case of disaster.

On the same day, Mayor Hong received reports on typhoon preparedness from heads of all departments, bureaus, and district offices, and discussed countermeasures for any shortcomings with the assembled officials.

He said, "This typhoon has a similar path to Typhoon Maemi in 2003, and it is large in scale and very strong," and ordered coastal damage prevention measures such as securing fishing boats, fixing fishery facilities, and prohibiting access to breakwaters.

He continued, "Please do your best to evacuate residents in areas expected to be damaged before the typhoon makes landfall so that not a single person is lost or injured," and urged, "Let us protect the lives and safety of citizens from the impact of Hinnamnor."
