[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the afternoon of the 2nd, Gangnam-gu Mayor Cho Sung-myung attended the ‘KIAF·Frieze Seoul’ event held at COEX in Gangnam-gu together with Mayor Oh Se-hoon and viewed the exhibited works.
Gangnam-gu is operating the ‘Gangnam Art Promotion Hall’ at this event until the 6th.
The ‘Gangnam Art Promotion Hall’ is an exhibition tour operated by Gangnam-gu, where visitors can receive a commemorative gift by visiting galleries in the Gangnam area such as Apgujeong and Cheongdam and collecting exhibition viewing certification stamps.
On the afternoon of the 2nd, Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor Choi Ho-kwon held a meeting with and encouraged Taekwondo athletes from Gwanak High School who won at the World and Asian Youth Taekwondo Championships in the mayor’s office.
Yeongdeungpo-gu awarded certificates of commendation and plaques of appreciation to Choo Yeon-ui and Hong Ui-jun, who won gold medals at the World Youth Championships held last August, Kim Min-jun, who won a gold medal at the Asian Youth Championships, and former coach Kim Kyung-nam, who has quietly led the athletes, in recognition of their contribution to national prestige and for bringing honor to Yeongdeungpo-gu.
Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “I congratulate the athletes who have achieved brilliant results through sweat and passion, and I hope they will perform even greater on the world stage in the future.”
On the 2nd, Mapo-gu Mayor Park Kang-soo attended the 3rd quarter regular meeting of the 20th Democratic Peaceful Unification Advisory Council Mapo-gu Committee held in the audiovisual room of the district office.
About 60 people, including advisory members and city and district council members, attended the meeting. Mayor Park Kang-soo gave a congratulatory speech and presented appointment letters to new advisory council members.
Mayor Park Kang-soo said, “I will continue to make efforts together with the Democratic Peaceful Unification Advisory Council Mapo-gu Committee for the development of inter-Korean relations and peaceful unification.”
The Democratic Peaceful Unification Advisory Council is a constitutional institution established based on the Constitution, promoting unification-related events for the nation’s aspiration for peaceful unification and striving to enhance the security awareness of local residents through these efforts.
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) and the Gwangjin-gu Community Social Security Council (Private Chairman Kim Kyung-jip) held the ‘23rd Social Welfare Day’ commemorative event on the 2nd at Naru Art Center.
‘Social Welfare Day’ is a designated commemorative day to help the public understand social welfare and encourage the activities of related workers.
Hosted by Gwangjin-gu and organized by the Gwangjin-gu Community Social Security Council, this event was held through public-private cooperation to encourage the hard work of social welfare workers.
The commemorative ceremony, held from 2 p.m. that day, was attended by about 100 people including Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Kyung-ho, members of the Community Social Security Council, and social welfare workers.
At the event, commendations were awarded to 23 social welfare contributors who made significant contributions to the promotion of social welfare. Among them, two representatives read the ethics declaration and pledged ethical practice for social welfare.
Afterwards, students from the Department of Music at Sejong University performed classical and vocal music, and Dr. and writer Moon Yo-han was specially invited to give a lecture on ‘Fatigue and Stress Management in Modern Society.’
Gwangjin-gu Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “I am grateful for the dedication and passion of social welfare workers who embrace neighbors in need. I will always listen carefully to the difficulties of volunteers working on the ground and do my best for the development of welfare in Gwangjin.”
On the afternoon of the 2nd, Nowon-gu Mayor Oh Seung-rok attended the ‘2022 Gender Equality Week Commemoration Ceremony’ held in the small auditorium on the 6th floor of the district office.
This event was organized to cultivate awareness of gender equality and spread its culture in celebration of Gender Equality Week (September 1?7). As a side event, experience and promotion booths such as calligraphy and making natural mosquito repellents were operated outside the auditorium, and last year’s award-winning works of Seoul Women’s University’s women leadership content were exhibited.
The main ceremony was divided into two parts: the first part was an awards ceremony, and the second part included a special lecture and performance. The first part proceeded with the national anthem, greetings, and the awarding of commendations to individuals and groups who contributed to realizing gender equality. Fifteen individuals, one exemplary couple, and two groups received awards.
The second part began with the screening of the grand prize-winning women leadership content from Seoul Women’s University titled ‘Monologue.’ This was followed by a special lecture titled ‘Stories of Equality Written Through Family History’ by Lee Ho-seon, director of the Korea Senior Counseling Center, and concluded with a gender equality musical performance ‘Mom Got Angry!’ by the Mulhyanggi Company theater troupe.
Nowon-gu Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “I hope this commemorative event raises residents’ interest in gender equality. I will continue to do my best to create a happy Nowon where everyone respects and cares for each other.”
On the afternoon of the 2nd, Yangcheon-gu Mayor Lee Ki-jae attended the ‘2022 Gender Equality Week Commemoration Event’ held at the Yangcheon Digital Media Center.
In celebration of Gender Equality Week 2022 (September 1?7), the commemorative event was organized to cultivate awareness of gender equality and spread its culture. It was packed with side events including awards for contributors, lectures on gender equality themes, visiting employment support booths, violence prevention events, and various promotional and experience booths.
Mayor Lee Ki-jae said, “To commemorate Gender Equality Week, we prepared a variety of events to widely promote the value of gender equality where everyone is respected as they are. I hope this event serves as an opportunity to understand each other’s differences and reflect on the meaning of gender equality.”
