President Yoon's Direct Digital Platform Government Committee Launched: "It Will Be a Practical Committee" (Comprehensive) On the afternoon of the 2nd, Ryu Jae-myung, Head of the Digital Platform Government Committee Promotion Team, held a follow-up briefing after the launch ceremony of the Digital Platform Government Committee at the Government Seoul Office Building, stating, "It will be a practical committee that directly develops key tasks with the President."

[Asia Economy Reporter Cha Min-young] "It will be a practical committee that directly creates major tasks with the President."

On the afternoon of the 2nd, Ryu Jae-myung, head of the Digital Platform Government Committee Promotion Team, held a briefing at the Government Seoul Office and stated, "(President Yoon Seok-yeol) said that although the committee was launched as a presidential advisory committee in a legal form, it is not merely advisory in practice, and he asked to directly point out any barriers at any time."

The Digital Platform Government Committee is a presidential committee that draws the blueprint for the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's core policy, the 'Digital Platform Government.' It originated from the Digital Platform Government TF of the Presidential Transition Committee in May and was reborn as an official committee. Nineteen private members, including Chairman Ko Jin, experts in digital technology such as AI, data, security, public administration, and industrial ecosystems, participate as private members. Additionally, ex officio government members include the Ministers of Strategy and Finance, Science and ICT, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and the Chairperson of the Personal Information Protection Commission.

Team Leader Ryu explained, "The Digital Platform Government means that citizens and companies solve social problems together based on a foundation where all data is connected," adding, "It is a new model of national governance where the government moves away from being a monopolistic supplier providing administrative services unilaterally to becoming an innovation partner."

Going forward, the committee will propose the vision, philosophy, and direction of the Digital Platform Government centered on subcommittees and establish detailed plans for key tasks by the first quarter of next year. Chairman Ko plans to focus on four major tasks: ▲implementing innovative infrastructure for the Digital Platform Government ▲full opening and promotion of data utilization ▲government work innovation using AI and data ▲ensuring a safe and trustworthy user environment.

Team Leader Ryu said, "Since some tasks involve institutional improvements, such as simplified claims for indemnity insurance and housing subscription, we will start with what can be done immediately and collaborate to make services available," adding, "We will proceed with parts that can be connected to the government system using digital technology."

Meanwhile, the committee held its inauguration ceremony at the Yongsan Presidential Office on the morning of the same day. Following the appointment of Chairman Ko Jin in July, President Yoon awarded appointment letters to 18 private members and discussed the promotion direction. The private members' term is two years. They will work in six subcommittees: AI, data, infrastructure, services, work style innovation, industrial ecosystem, and information protection.
