Jin Byeong-yeong, Hamyang County Governor, Holds Review Meeting on Promises of the 8th Elected Term County Governor Jin Byeong-yeong is holding a report meeting on the public promise projects of the 8th elected term.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jin Byeong-yeong, the mayor of Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, has taken the first step in establishing an execution plan for campaign promises made to the residents.


On August 31 at 2 p.m., Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam, held a "Review Meeting on the Execution Plan for the Eighth Term Mayor's Campaign Promises" in the large conference room of the county office, attended by Mayor Jin Byeong-yeong, directors, heads of departments in charge of campaign promises, and about 60 officials including section chiefs.


Mayor Jin promised 8 core campaign pledges and 45 promises across 6 major areas to the residents during the last election. After departmental reviews, these were reclassified into 56 promises across 5 policy areas of the county administration.


This meeting was organized to review specific execution methods and plans to faithfully implement the eighth term campaign promises and to seek improvement measures for any problematic promises. Each department reported on project overviews, issues and countermeasures, and future plans.


Mayor Jin stated, “Since campaign promises are precious commitments to the residents, all public officials should carefully establish and implement substantial execution plans. Furthermore, while carrying out administrative tasks, officials should change their perspective from their own standards to the viewpoint of the residents.”


The county administration policies for the eighth term in Hamyang-gun are divided into five areas: communicative and fair administration, sustainable future agriculture, generational empathy and hopeful welfare, visionary and vibrant economy, and dynamic culture and tourism. The promises in the “communicative and fair administration” area include 8 items such as ▲achieving first-class integrity rating ▲improving the work environment of the county office and providing convenience spaces for residents ▲expanding the 1,000 won taxi service in public transportation underserved areas ▲securing small parking lots in urban areas.


The sustainable future agriculture area includes 10 items such as ▲establishing a seasonal worker support center ▲activating entrusted farming projects ▲installing rest areas and restrooms for farmers ▲improving farming infrastructure such as expanding and paving farm roads.


The generational empathy and hopeful welfare area consists of 18 items including ▲providing youth allowances ▲free use of county buses for those aged 65 and over ▲establishing new senior welfare facilities ▲constructing a student complex library ▲building a nursing hospital for the elderly.


The visionary and vibrant economy area includes 10 items such as ▲constructing a youth dream workshop ▲establishing a task force for attracting large (and medium-sized) enterprises ▲developing specialized food products to revitalize traditional markets ▲building a vacant house bank to utilize empty houses.


The dynamic culture and tourism area consists of 10 items including ▲installing an integrated training center at Hamyang Sports Complex ▲attracting investment to revitalize Daebongsan Recreation Valley ▲operating a permanent performance stage at Sangnim ▲constructing a small movie theater ▲activating the Choi Chi-won Historical Park.
