[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The 'Eunbit Social Welfare Development Council' located in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, is sponsoring 12.3 million KRW in 'Eunbit Scholarships' for underprivileged middle and high school students in Suwon.
On the 1st, Suwon City announced that it held the '2022 Eunbit Scholarship Award Ceremony' on the 31st of last month at the city hall's medium conference room. Established in 2013, the Eunbit Social Welfare Development Council carries out various sharing activities including the Eunbit Scholarship support project, providing daily necessities for vulnerable groups, meal service volunteering, and welfare center consignment projects.
Suwon City plans to distribute 300,000 KRW each to a total of 41 recipients, including underprivileged middle and high school students, multicultural family middle and high school students, and families of individuals with developmental disabilities.
Lee Seok-hee, Chairman of the Eunbit Social Welfare Development Council, said, "I thank everyone who has participated in the Eunbit Scholarship project," and added, "We will contribute to the development of Suwon City."
Lee Jae-jun, Mayor of Suwon City, responded, "Great Monk (Chairman Lee Seok-hee) has played a significant role for the local community," and said, "I hope the warm hearts and sharing of the Eunbit Social Welfare Development Council will continue."
Meanwhile, the council has been delivering scholarships to Suwon City annually, with 93 recipients (16.1 million KRW) in 2018, 88 recipients (18.2 million KRW) in 2019, 74 recipients (17.6 million KRW) in 2020, and 25 recipients (7.5 million KRW) in 2021.
