Mokpo City Recruiting Lodging Businesses to Participate in Discount Event

[Mokpo=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Hyeong-seok] Mokpo City, Jeollanam-do announced on the 31st that it is recruiting accommodation facilities that will provide lodging fee discounts to tourists residing outside Jeonnam and Gwangju in celebration of the ‘2022-2023 Jeollanam-do Year of Visit.’

The eligible facilities for application are lodging establishments located in Mokpo City that have completed business registration as of the announcement date, including tourist accommodations, Hanok experience businesses, foreign tourist urban guesthouses, general lodging businesses, and rural guesthouse businesses.

The discount targets are individual travelers who do not reside in the Jeonnam or Gwangju areas, and the selection of lodging facilities will be planned after recruitment. The discount amount ranges from a minimum of 20,000 KRW to a maximum of 40,000 KRW depending on the lodging fee.

The system operates on a pay-first, settle-later basis; participating businesses provide discounts on lodging fees, then submit invoices with payment receipts and lodging confirmation to the city, after which the discount amount is deposited the following month.

A city official stated, “We expect that lodging fee discounts will encourage longer stays by visitors and contribute to revitalizing the local tourism industry, which has been stagnant due to COVID-19.”

Applications can be submitted by filling out the application forms posted in the announcement on the Mokpo City website and sending them by registered mail (Tourism Division, Mokpo City Hall) or email by the 8th of next month.
