[Asia Economy PD Yoon Jin-geun] East Security's antivirus program 'Alyac' malfunctioned on the 30th, blocking legitimate programs. It blocked operating system files such as Windows, making booting impossible and causing significant inconvenience to users.

According to 'Alyac' users, after a software update on that day, 'Alyac' blocked normal programs instead of ransomware. Users reported that 'Alyac' generated a 'Ransomware Block Notification' window and forcibly prevented certain programs from running. Some users posted photos showing error messages during boot, stating that 'Windows does not even boot.'

East Security announced the error on its homepage that afternoon, stating that the cause of the malfunction was confirmed to be due to "applying an advanced ransomware detection feature." They shared a patch file so users could manually fix the error and posted instructions on how to apply it.

There have been previous errors with 'Alyac.' In 2008, 'Alyac' mistakenly identified its own update files as ransomware and deleted them.

Netizens criticized Alyac and East Soft. They raised their voices saying, "Our company PC became unresponsive, and it turned out to be because of Alyac," and "It took an hour to recover the PC." Some netizens pointed out that Windows files were corrupted, making it impossible to enter safe mode as suggested by the company.
