CJ Foodville announced on the 31st that it signed a business agreement for mutual development with Namhae County, Gyeongsangnam-do, at Namhae County Office on the 30th. The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Chan-ho, CEO of CJ Foodville, Jang Chung-nam, Mayor of Namhae County, and other officials, who agreed to actively promote the development and sales of products using Namhae County specialties and the 2022 Visit Namhae Year.

CEO Kim said, “I consider it very meaningful to realize ESG values through coexistence with the local community in cooperation with Namhae County,” adding, “Beyond simply procuring ingredients and product development, we will faithfully fulfill the role and responsibility of companies to revitalize farms as a good public-private cooperation coexistence model by widely promoting the excellence of local specialties including those of Namhae County.”

Taking this agreement as an opportunity, CJ Foodville plans to procure high-quality Namhae County specialties such as garlic and deliver competitive products to consumers. In addition, it will provide stable sales channels to local farms, contribute to reducing inventory, and strive to activate local consumption by enhancing the awareness of Namhae County and its specialties in the long term.

The garlic industry is a core economic sector in Namhae County, with garlic farming households accounting for 20% of the total population. Due to Namhae garlic being cultivated while exposed to sea breezes because of the county’s geographical characteristic of being surrounded by the sea on all sides, it is rich in minerals and has a strong pungent flavor. CJ Foodville plans to purchase large quantities of Namhae garlic, which boasts excellent quality, to support garlic farmers who are struggling with imported garlic and unstable price fluctuations. Additionally, it will launch new products such as Vips’ meal kits and Tous Les Jours’ bakery items using Namhae garlic and carry out promotional marketing activities.
