The 2nd Hanbando Terrain Resembling Georyu Dangdongman Event Held at Dangdong Coastal Road Area
Featuring Invited Singer Performances, Folk Game Experiences, and Fireworks Display
The 2nd Dangdong Bay Moonlight Festival, resembling the shape of the Korean Peninsula, will be held on September 9th at Dangdong Coastal Road area, Dangdong Bay, Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Song Jong-gu] The 2nd Dangdong Bay Moonlight Festival, resembling the Korean Peninsula terrain, will be held on September 9th along Dangdong Coastal Road in Dangdong Bay, Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, to celebrate Chuseok, the traditional Korean holiday.
This festival is hosted and organized by Georyu-myeon and the Georyu-myeon Residents' Autonomy Committee, with support from local institutions and social organizations.
From 5 PM, various folk game experience booths such as Yutnori, Jegichagi, Tuho, and Samulnori, which revive fading traditional Korean culture and evoke nostalgia, will be operated. Before the festival, a pungmul performance by the Georyu-myeon Pungmul group will heighten the festive atmosphere, followed by the opening ceremony starting at 6 PM.
Celebratory performances by invited singers including Ha Soon-hee and Kang Myung-geun, accordion performances, and exciting Gogo Janggu performances will continue, showcasing diverse attractions such as Ganggangsuwollae, which promotes community harmony, and a spectacular fireworks display.
Additionally, free food booths offering draft beer, Makgeolli, popcorn, cotton candy, and more will be available for families, especially for those visiting their hometowns during the Chuseok holiday and local residents.
Visitors on the day can also enjoy the beautiful night view where the LED night lighting, coastal flower paths, and Dangdong Bay resembling the Korean Peninsula terrain harmonize, a project promoted through the Dangdong Bay Night Landscape Creation Project.
Jang Hyun-chul, chairman of the Georyu-myeon Residents' Autonomy Committee, said, “We plan to operate various programs for a community harmony festival where hometown visitors and residents can come together against the backdrop of Dangdong Bay resembling the Korean Peninsula terrain during the Chuseok holiday. We will make every effort to prepare for the event in the remaining period.”
Lee Jong-yeop, head of Georyu-myeon, said, “We are preparing a meaningful festival where residents and hometown visitors can unite to celebrate Chuseok, a traditional folk holiday. We will devote all efforts to ensure it is a festival that the whole family can enjoy together.”
He added, “We hope this festival will serve as an opportunity to develop Dangdong Bay as a regional tourist attraction and revitalize the stagnant local economy.”
