The Korea-Japan Joint Higher Education Student Exchange Program is recognized as an excellent program among various programs aimed at student exchange and friendship enhancement between Korea and Japan, proving the quality of its education.
For the past four years (2020?2023), Daegu University has been selected as the host university for the undergraduate short-term course of this program, and from August 8 to 26, 19 Japanese students participated in a three-week program focused on lectures related to Korean history and culture and participatory classes.
Also, from August 8 to 26, a short-term training program was conducted for 13 students from its sister university, Kyoto Seika University, who participated in Daegu University's Korean language training course for three weeks, attending classes on basic Korean language, Korean culture, and linguistics.
Daegu University operates a special training course for 26 students from Trident Foreign Language, Hotel, and Bridal Vocational School. Participating students can build global friendships by interacting with Korean students through the Buddy Buddy program while studying Korean language and culture for 14 weeks from August 8 to November 11.
In addition, Daegu University has been selected as a host university for the Korea-Japan Joint Higher Education Student Exchange Program and will operate master's and doctoral degree programs, a one-year undergraduate course, and a Korean language preparatory education course until 2025.
Ryu Hye-kyung, Director of the International Office at Daegu University, said, “Although it is not easy to attract foreign students due to COVID-19, we are actively promoting student exchange projects through government-supported programs. We will do our best to expand student exchanges with more countries in accordance with the COVID-19 situation.”
