[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 30th, Ha Tae-kyung, a member of the People Power Party, argued that the process of establishing a new emergency committee should be halted, and a new floor leader should be elected, with the new floor leader acting as the interim party leader. He also stated that additional disciplinary action against former leader Lee Jun-seok goes against the value of 'freedom' emphasized by President Yoon Suk-yeol.

On the same day, Ha appeared on KBS Radio's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strongest Current Affairs' and said, "If we proceed with a new emergency committee, the situation will not be resolved before Chuseok, and the fate of our party will be left in the hands of the court."

He added, "To decide the party's fate ourselves, we should elect a new floor leader, and that floor leader can act as the interim leader," and said, "The remaining supreme council members can then discuss and decide what to do, which is not a big problem. This way, the situation can be resolved before Chuseok."

Ha pointed out, "Seo Byung-soo, the chairman of the National Committee, refused to convene the National Committee regarding the new emergency committee. In fact, this is like a death sentence for the emergency committee," and criticized, "To proceed with it despite public sentiment and the court's ruling only invites more criticism."

Regarding floor leader Kwon Seong-dong, he said, "Since he is partly responsible for causing this chaotic situation, it seems he wants to resolve it himself and resign, but the problem is that the direction of resolution is completely wrong," and added, "If he resigns after resolving the issue, it might even create a ridiculous situation where he cannot resign continuously."

On the public opinion about additional disciplinary action against former leader Lee, he said, "Additional disciplinary action would be stronger than the previous one, possibly including suspension of party membership or expulsion, but the problem is that the reason for the discipline is criticism of the president," and expressed concern, "it seems they do not consider that disciplining someone for criticizing the president would be humiliating to the president."

He said, "Because the president must say 'I cannot tolerate this, I cannot allow this' to justify disciplinary action," and added, "However, the president emphasizes freedom, and the most important value of freedom is freedom of expression, so disciplining someone for such remarks violates the value of freedom the president spoke about."

Ha said, "(Disciplining former leader Lee) makes the president appear narrow-minded," and added, "It is very regrettable because it seems they are viewing politics with a very narrow and limited perspective."
