Kang Jin-won, Gangjin County Governor, Makes Every Effort to Secure Special Grants

[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Jeonnam Gangjin County Governor Kang Jin-won visited the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 26th to meet with Vice Minister Han Chang-seop and requested special grant support for three ongoing county projects and two disaster safety projects.

At the meeting, Governor Kang actively explained the necessity of special grant support for ▲ maintenance around the Baegundong Garden Exhibition Hall (1 billion KRW) ▲ replacement of aging water pipes from Gangjin-eup to Gundong-myeon (600 million KRW) ▲ construction of an urban planning road from the back gate of Jungang Elementary School to Gyeongdong Courier (500 million KRW) ▲ repair and reinforcement of the old Mokri Bridge (1.5 billion KRW) ▲ and the Daegu Stream maintenance project in Daegu-myeon (1 billion KRW).

In particular, the ‘Maintenance around Baegundong Garden Exhibition Hall’ project is expected to attract many tourists as Baegundong Garden, the filming location of the drama ‘Hwanhon,’ has gained popularity by word of mouth, and the Baegundong Garden Exhibition Hall is scheduled to be completed in November this year. The creation of nearby parking lots is considered an essential project for the convenience of tourists.

Additionally, the repair and reinforcement project of the old Mokri Bridge, which was rated D in a detailed safety inspection and has restricted vehicle traffic, is urgent to prevent safety accidents and protect the lives and property of county residents.

Governor Kang Jin-won stated, “Securing national and provincial budgets is not a choice but an essential task for Gangjin County to overcome the crisis of regional extinction due to population decline and to attract 5 million tourists annually.” He emphasized, “I will visit the National Assembly and central government offices tirelessly to secure national funds for building a Gangjin where population and jobs increase and tourists never stop coming.”

Since ten days after his inauguration, Governor Kang has been actively securing national and provincial budgets, starting with a meeting with Governor Kim Young-rok of Jeollanam-do, visiting the Jeollanam-do Office of Education on the 11th to meet Superintendent Kim Dae-jung, and visiting the National Assembly on the 18th to request national budget support from Assemblyman Kim Seung-nam.
