[Asia Economy Reporter Heeyoon Kim] ▲Yuri Kim Exhibition Dear. My Demians : My World = Artist Yuri Kim's first solo exhibition 'Dear. My Demians : My World' abstractly expresses buildings as metaphors for people, including elements of time, space, and emotions.

The artist explains that she visualized insights about people, relationships, and life on the backdrop of a city in various ways. In particular, she says that everything that inspired this work is 'Demian,' and all her paintings form one world. She confesses that this work was a time to deeply discover and further develop the direction of her paintings. The exhibition runs until September 8 at Gallery Ilho, Samcheong-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul.

▲Drawn Elephant : Abstract 抽象 = Artist Suyeon Hong, who has devoted herself to 'abstract' painting for 30 years and has consistently continued her activities, has been meticulously constructing irregular shapes floating on calm monochrome backgrounds. The artist creates a balance and tension by pushing and pulling within the canvas, and recently has attracted attention by presenting paintings that overlap and partially deconstruct these shapes to express new energy.

This exhibition is a museum solo exhibition held in the 30th year of her artistic career since her first solo exhibition in Korea in 1992, consisting of a total of 30 works including 15 new paintings and drawings and 2 newly attempted video works. Especially, selected existing works connected to the new works are exhibited to comprehensively and multi-dimensionally examine the artist's work changes (evolution) as she enters a new chapter.

[Exhibition of the Week] Kim Yuri Exhibition Dear.My Demians·Eom Taejung Solo Exhibition and More The exhibition runs until October 29 at the Koreana Museum of Art, Eonju-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

The exhibition theme 'Drawn Elephant' is an English literal translation of the Chinese characters for 'abstract 抽象,' where the character for 'elephant 象' is used instead of the character for 'form/shape 像' in 'abstract.' This reflects the artist's new perception and curiosity, aiming to approach the essence of abstraction more closely. Through this theme, the artist conveys a metaphorical message about the work of drawing out and visualizing the latent abstract images within herself. The exhibition runs until October 29 at the Koreana Museum of Art, Eonju-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

▲Taejung Eom Solo Exhibition 'Dream and Rejoice of Silver Wings' = This exhibition presents Taejung Eom's recent works along with unpublished works and flat works, drawings, and pieces from the 1970s-80s created during his formative years (1960s). Contrasting with the smooth surfaces, the works from his youth in the 1970s seem to burst with rough inner energy, while the recent works shown in his old age are calm, gentle, and deeply introspective. They are healing spaces?sculptures?that embrace the surroundings freely, without unnecessary greed or obsession. Visitors invited into this beautiful energy-filled space experience a healing time of contemplation and self-awakening through encountering the works.

Taejung Eom was fascinated by the materiality of iron during his studies at Seoul National University in the 1960s and embarked on the path of metal sculpture, influenced by the modern abstract sculptural art of Constantin Brancusi (1876?1957). For over half a century, dedicating his whole body and mind to metal, sculpture art for him is a process of contemplating objects, approaching their inherent essence, and discovering his true self. The exhibition runs until February 26 next year at Arario Museum in Space, Yulgok-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
