Kim Dong-yeon Visits Bundang and Ilsan 1st Generation New Towns, "Actively Reflecting Residents' Opinions"

[Asia Economy (Goyang) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, visited Samho Poonglim Apartment in Baeksong Village 5 Complex, Ilsan, Goyang on the 26th to continue his public sentiment campaign for the prompt redevelopment of the 1st generation new towns.

On that day, Governor Kim met with apartment residents and said, "The reconstruction or remodeling of the 1st generation new towns is a matter tied to the residents' right to survival," adding, "Not only Gyeonggi Province but also the central government and the five cities of the 1st generation new towns will join forces to gather residents' opinions as much as possible and proceed step by step."

Residents who met Governor Kim expressed their concerns, saying, "There is a war every night due to parking lot issues, and conflicts arise between households as cars are parked even on the main roads," and "There are many places with leaks, and in winter, mold grows black on the verandas."

Governor Kim directly witnessed the hardships of the residents and listened to their opinions by entering not only the inside of the complex but also the aging underground piping rooms, the underground parking lot which is insufficient with about 0.5 spaces per household, and even inside the homes where actual apartment residents live.

This on-site visit by Governor Kim was the second public sentiment campaign related to the redevelopment of the 1st generation new towns, following his visit to Samboo Apartment in Saetbyeol Village, Bundang on the 24th.

Governor Kim plans to visit the remaining three new towns?Jungdong in Bucheon, Pyeongchon in Anyang, and Sanbon in Gunpo?following Bundang in Seongnam and Ilsan in Goyang.

During his visit to Bundang, Governor Kim directly announced the 'Comprehensive Plan for the Redevelopment of the 1st Generation New Towns in Gyeonggi Province,' which includes key points such as ▲establishing a dedicated organization directly under the governor ▲financial support for urgent redevelopment projects ▲investigation of aging conditions ▲and formulation of redevelopment development directions.

Samho Poonglim Apartment is a 1st generation new town in Ilsan, completed in 1992 with 786 households.
