300,000 KRW per citizen, 700,000 KRW for children and youth under 19
Stabilizing citizens' lives exhausted by COVID-19, expecting regional economic revitalization
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do, will distribute the 4th Emergency Disaster Living Expenses from August 30 to September 29. The support amount is 300,000 KRW per citizen, and those aged 19 or younger (registered birth after July 1, 2002) will receive an additional 400,000 KRW, totaling 700,000 KRW.
The recipients include all residents registered in Gwangyang City as of 0:00 on July 1, regardless of income, age, or duplicate receipt status, and as of the application date. Foreigners registered as residents in Gwangyang, overseas Koreans with domestic addresses registered in Gwangyang, and newborns registered by September 29 are also included.
The emergency disaster living expenses will be paid as 250,000 KRW in Gwangyang Sarang Gift Certificates (card) and 50,000 KRW in Onnuri Gift Certificates (paper) per person. Those aged 19 or younger will receive 550,000 KRW in Gwangyang Sarang Gift Certificates (card) and 150,000 KRW in Onnuri Gift Certificates (paper).
The Gwangyang Sarang Gift Certificates can be used at all affiliated stores within Gwangyang, excluding entertainment and gambling establishments, and large or semi-large stores. The Onnuri Gift Certificates can be used at traditional markets and shopping districts.
Applications can be made collectively by one head of household or household member. Applicants must complete the application form and bring their ID and a power of attorney (if necessary) to apply and receive the payment immediately at their local eup, myeon, or dong office based on the address as of 0:00 on July 1, 2022.
Meanwhile, to prevent COVID-19 infection and provide convenience, the city will operate a concentrated application period using a ‘day-specific application system’ from August 30 to September 2 (4 days).
Applications can be made at village halls, apartment management offices, etc., on designated days from 09:00 to 18:00 (closed for lunch from 12:00 to 13:00). Those who do not apply during this period can visit eup, myeon, or dong offices afterward to apply.

Jung Inhwa, Mayor of Gwangyang City, said, “We hope that the 4th Emergency Disaster Living Expenses will help overcome the disaster even a little during the prolonged COVID-19 situation,” and added, “We ask that you use it promptly for the rapid ripple effect in revitalizing the local economy of Gwangyang City.”
