Sacheon City Conducts Eulji Exercise Actual Training... Samcheonpo Bridge Exposure Response Drill Eulji Exercise, actual training scene responding to the bombing of Samcheonpo Bridge.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sacheon City, Gyeongnam, conducted a "Response Drill for the Samcheonpo Bridge Explosion" on the 24th at the Samcheonpo Bridge Park floating stage as part of the 2022 Eulji Exercise actual training.


This drill focused on establishing a cooperative system for situation response to protect citizens' lives and property in the event of a terrorist attack on Samcheonpo Bridge, as well as the rapid rescue, recovery, and restoration efforts by related agencies.


Hosted by Sacheon City, the drill involved related agencies including the Air Force 3rd Training Flight Group, Unit 8962 4th Battalion, Sacheon Police Station, Sacheon Coast Guard, and Sacheon Fire Station, along with about 100 participants including residents and children from Daebang Daycare Center.


The drill simulated real combat with the dispatch of one patrol ship and two rescue boats, explosive ordnance disposal team operations using water cannons and other equipment for bomb detonation, terrorist suppression, chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) decontamination demonstrations, and fire suppression water spray demonstrations.


Additionally, the 3rd Training Flight Group exhibited over 20 types of CBRN equipment including reconnaissance vehicles, decontamination vehicles, special protective suits, and positive pressure air respirators, highlighting the dangers of war and the importance of CBRN defense.


Mayor Park Dong-sik stated, “Through this Eulji Exercise, we have inspected the emergency preparedness of Samcheonpo Bridge, a key national facility, and I hope efforts will be made to build even closer cooperation with related agencies to ensure no negligence in protecting the precious lives and property of our citizens.”
