Gangseo District, Seoul (Mayor Kim Tae-woo) received a commendation plaque on the 24th from the Seoul Community Chest of Korea (Chairman Yoon Young-seok) as an ‘Excellent Autonomous District for the 2022 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign.’

The Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign is a fundraising project conducted by the district and the Seoul Community Chest of Korea to help vulnerable residents such as basic livelihood security recipients, elderly living alone, and people with disabilities spend a warm winter.

According to the 2022 Hope Ondol Warm Winter fundraising results, the district raised the highest amount among Seoul’s 25 autonomous districts, totaling 3,453.02 million KRW. This amount far exceeded the initial target of 2 billion KRW, and the district earned the honor of being selected as an excellent autonomous district for two consecutive years.

Mayor Kim Tae-woo said, “The reason we were able to be selected as an excellent autonomous district is thanks to donors who think of neighbors in need first,” adding, “The district will build an even more thorough welfare network to create a Gangseo District that walks together with the vulnerable without leaving anyone behind.”

Meanwhile, at the award ceremony, the district also received a sponsorship of 55 million KRW for the ‘2022 Community Safety Line Protection Campaign’ to support vulnerable groups.
