Access to Gyeonggi Provincial Government Gwanggyo New Office Easier... Number of Passageways Increased from 2 to 4

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The passageways at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government's Gwanggyo New Office Building will increase from the previous 2 to 4.

Gyeonggi Province announced on the 23rd that to alleviate the inconvenience of visitors to the provincial office, they will secure pedestrian entrances on the west side basement level 1 and a pedestrian safety passage near Exit 4 of Gwanggyo Jungang Station on the north side, and open them on the 30th.

Previously, only two entrances on the north and east sides were operated. This was according to the directive of Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province.

The province had been restricting passageways to ensure pedestrian safety due to large-scale construction around the office building. As a result, visitors to the provincial office continuously raised complaints about the inconvenience of using the building.

Governor Kim confirmed this situation and recently visited the responsible department, instructing, "Please devise a way so that the residents, who are the owners of the provincial office, can visit and use the office as conveniently as possible."

Accordingly, the province explained that they decided to prepare additional passageways while ensuring maximum safety under the current circumstances.

The additional passageways are intended for visitors approaching the office building via Central Town-ro in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon. A pedestrian passage was newly opened toward the west side basement level 1 staff-only entrance, allowing access to the open civil service office on the ground floor via stairs. The other passageway is for visitors using Gwanggyo Jungang Station, temporarily allowing pedestrian access through Vehicle Entrance 4, which is close to Exit 4 of the south side of Gwanggyo Jungang Station.

As a result, the travel distance and time from Gwanggyo Jungang Station to the provincial office, which previously took about 700 meters and 13 minutes, will be reduced to 150 meters and 5 minutes. Additionally, pedestrian passages have been opened in four directions, making access easier from any side.

To address the inconvenience of vehicle visitors who found it difficult to locate the basement level 2 entrance exclusively for civil petitioners, nine additional directional signs using LED were installed to help find the entrance.
