"Wants to Build a New China-Japan Relationship"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Hyun-ji] Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a telegram expressing sympathy to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who was infected with COVID-19, according to the state-run China Central Television (CCTV) on the 22nd.
President Xi stated, "Upon hearing the news of Prime Minister Kishida's COVID-19 infection, I sincerely send my regards," and added, "I hope you recover your health soon." He continued, "This year marks the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan," and said, "I hope to work with you to promote the building of China-Japan relations required by the new era."
Prime Minister Kishida tested positive for COVID-19 the previous day and is recovering at the Prime Minister's residence, reportedly with mild symptoms.
