Samhwa Paint Develops Korea's First High-Content Biomass PCM Coating

Since Its Initial Development Last February, Biomass Content Increased to Over 60%

The biomass paint for PCM developed by Samhwa Paint can be applied not only to general appliance steel sheets such as washing machines and refrigeration but also to various architectural and appliance PCM steel sheets, including printed steel sheets and elevator steel sheets.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Samhwa Paint Industrial Co., Ltd. has developed a high-content biomass coating for PCM (Pre-Coated Metal, color steel sheets).

Since February, Samhwa Paint has been working on increasing the biomass content after becoming the first in Korea to develop a biomass coating that replaced some of the solvents, the main raw material of the coating, with extracts from agricultural waste such as corn.

This new product is Korea's first high-content biomass PCM coating, notable not only for replacing solvents with eco-friendly components but also for applying bio-based raw materials in the resin synthesis process that determines the coating's physical properties.

Earlier this month, the biomass-based carbon content was verified as high by requesting test results from the Korea Apparel Testing & Research Institute, and on the 12th, it was certified to contain more than 60% biomass by Beta Analytic, a globally recognized biomass testing institution in the United States.

Accordingly, demand is expected to expand in the home appliance industry, where ESG is increasingly emphasized, and Samhwa Paint plans to further develop biomass-based architectural coatings and general industrial coatings in the future.

A representative from Samhwa Paint stated, "Samhwa Paint has been accelerating the development of biomass coatings in line with the ESG policies of the home appliance industry," adding, "We plan to actively promote and sell the newly developed Korea's first high-content biomass PCM coating."
