From the 23rd to 24th, inviting over 20 travel journalists to actively promote tourist attractions
Introducing dark tour courses such as the National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery and Jeonnam University Main Gate
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yuk-bong] Buk-gu, Gwangju City, announced on the 22nd that it will hold the 'May Sun 5·18 Fam Tour' from the 23rd to the 24th, inviting about 20 people including travel journalists and executives of the Seoul Tourism Association, together with the Gwangju Tourism Association.
This fam tour was prepared to actively promote Gwangju, the city of democratic arts, by introducing a dark tour course themed on the 5·18 historical sites in Buk-gu and related tourist attractions.
Participants will pay respects at the National 5·18 Democratic Cemetery and tour the area around the main gate of Chonnam National University, the first historical site of the Gwangju Democratization Movement, to feel the noble spirit of the democratic martyrs.
They will also experience making food using rice balls symbolizing the spirit of May Gwangju at the Namdo Local Food Museum.
In addition, they will explore Namdo cultural heritage sites such as Chungjangsa, Wonhyosa, and Hwanbyeokdang at the foot of Mudeungsan Mountain, and enjoy a healing time at the Gwangjuho Lake Ecological Park, known for its beautiful natural scenery.
Director Moon said, "This fam tour will be a good opportunity to widely promote the spirit of the May 18 Gwangju Democratization Movement and related tourist sites," adding, "We will continue to actively support the development of tourism products utilizing Buk-gu's history and cultural resources."
Meanwhile, Buk-gu has selected eight places with excellent historical, cultural resources, natural scenery, and high ecological conservation value (▲Mudeungsan ▲National 518 Democratic Cemetery ▲Jungoe Park Cultural Belt ▲Chunghyo-dong King Willow and Lake Ecological Park ▲Wonhyosa ▲Hwanbyeokdang and Pungamjeong ▲Malbau Market ▲Gwangju Kia Champions Field) as the 'Buk-gu 8 Views' and is fostering them as a representative local tourism brand.
