[Seoul District News] Gangnam-gu, On-site Sales at District Office Parking Lot from 10 AM to 6 PM on September 1 & Pre-orders from August 22 to 24
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) will hold the '2022 Chuseok Agricultural, Livestock, and Marine Products Direct Market' at the district office parking lot on September 1st to celebrate the Chuseok holiday.
The market, open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. that day, will feature participation from over 80 farms across more than 50 locations nationwide, selling holiday ritual items such as Korean beef, pears, and apples, as well as regional specialties like mushrooms and dried yellow corvina, at prices 5-30% lower than the market price.
The district will give 500g of newly harvested rice to the first 2,022 customers who purchase more than 30,000 KRW on the day of the event. Buyers can also use the parcel delivery service until 4 p.m.
Additionally, a 'Visiting Knife Sharpening' booth will be set up, accepting up to 150 knives on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 9:30 a.m., with services provided from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
If visiting the site on the day of the event is difficult, pre-purchase applications can be made from August 22 to 24. Interested individuals can refer to the product list in the leaflet available on the Gangnam-gu Office website and at local community centers, and apply by phone to their respective community center.
Jo Seong-myeong, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, said, “This event was organized to revitalize the local economy, which has been shrinking due to COVID-19 and high inflation, by selling high-quality specialty products at prices lower than the market.” He added, “We hope many people will participate in this direct market that realizes the value of coexistence and have a more meaningful and happy holiday.”
