Lee Kyoung-hoon (31) continued his chances of advancing to the FedEx Cup Playoffs (PO) final round.
On the 19th (local time), Lee Kyoung-hoon recorded a 1-under-par 70 with 3 birdies and 2 bogeys in the second round of the PGA Tour BMW Championship (total prize money $15 million) held at Wilmington Country Club (par 71, 7,534 yards) in Wilmington, Delaware, USA, rising to a tie for 17th place with a cumulative score of 4-under-par 138.
If Lee Kyoung-hoon maintains this position until the final day, it is expected that he will be ranked 30th in the FedEx Cup standings, which is the cutline for advancing to the Tour Championship, the final round of the PO. Currently, Lee Kyoung-hoon is ranked 34th in the FedEx Cup standings.
Previously, last season, Lee Kyoung-hoon was ranked 31st in the FedEx Cup after the second round of the playoffs, failing to qualify for the Tour Championship, which is limited to the top 30 players.
Lee Kyoung-hoon had a smooth start with birdies on holes 1 and 3 but lost strokes with bogeys on holes 9 and 11. However, he finished the second round at 1-under-par by placing his second shot on the 16th hole (par 4) within 1 meter of the hole.
Adam Scott (Australia) took the solo lead with 8-under-par 134, followed by world number one Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth, Cameron Young (all USA), and Corey Conners (Canada) tied for second place, one stroke behind. Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), Xander Schauffele, Patrick Cantlay (all USA), and two others are tied for sixth place at 6-under-par 136, setting up a fierce battle for the lead until the end of the tournament.
Im Sung-jae (24), ranked 11th in the FedEx Cup, finished the second round tied for 22nd with a cumulative score of 3-under-par 139, increasing his chances of advancing to the Tour Championship. However, Kim Joo-hyung (20), ranked 25th in the FedEx Cup, remained tied for 48th with an even-par 142, making it difficult to qualify for the final round. Kim Si-woo (27), ranked 50th, stood at 6-over-par 148, placing 67th out of 68 players.
