"US Plans Additional 1 Trillion Won Support for Ukraine Weapons"

11 Trillion Won Support Provided Since the February War Outbreak

"US Plans Additional 1 Trillion Won Support for Ukraine Weapons" The building of the National Kharkiv Polytechnic University in Kharkiv, eastern Ukraine, was severely damaged by a missile attack from Russian forces on the 19th (local time).

The Biden administration in the United States is reportedly planning to inject an additional $800 million (approximately 1.0609 trillion KRW) to support Ukraine with weapons, according to major foreign media citing sources on the 18th (local time).

Multiple sources indicated that the U.S. government could announce this additional support plan as early as the 19th. They also explained that President Biden would approve the additional support using the "Presidential Drawdown Authority" (PDA) budget, which does not require congressional approval.

However, sources added that the scale of support could change before the official announcement, and the timing of the announcement might be postponed to next week.

The White House declined to comment on this matter.

According to the U.S. Congressional Research Service (CRS), since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 this year, the total value of weapons and equipment the U.S. has provided to help defend Ukraine’s territory amounts to $8.1 billion (approximately 10.7 trillion KRW).

CRS also reported that from 2014, when Russia forcibly annexed the Crimean Peninsula, to the present, the total budget the U.S. has supported for Ukraine’s security reaches $11 billion (approximately 14.6 trillion KRW).
