Police to Decide on Disciplinary Action Later
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] A police officer who was arrested at his own police station while driving under the influence has been referred to the prosecution without detention.
On the 19th, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul announced that Sergeant A, affiliated with the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, was sent to the prosecution without detention on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
Sergeant A is accused of driving a vehicle on the 2nd with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.199%, which is at the level of license cancellation. Sergeant A was arrested in the parking lot of the Gangnam Police Station where he works after fleeing from the pursuing police officers who responded to the scene. Sergeant A was suspended from his position following the incident.
Meanwhile, the police plan to decide on disciplinary action once the investigation results are out.
