Imsil-gun Opens the Era of 650 Billion Won Budget for the First Time in History

[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, has entered an era of a record-breaking budget of 650 billion KRW.

The county announced on the 19th that it submitted the first supplementary budget of the 8th local government administration, totaling 655.5 billion KRW, to the Imsil County Council.

This second supplementary budget of the year is 110.3 billion KRW (20.2%) higher than the first supplementary budget of 545.2 billion KRW announced in March, marking the first time the budget has surpassed 600 billion KRW.

By sector, the largest increase in expenditures was in culture and tourism with 19.7 billion KRW, followed by environment with 17.8 billion KRW, land and regional development with 14.7 billion KRW, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries with 12.5 billion KRW, and public order and safety with 10.4 billion KRW.

This supplementary budget focuses on stabilizing the lives of residents who are struggling due to the resurgence of COVID-19 and rising prices, and is organized around key projects to realize the agenda of the 8th local government administration.

First, to overcome the resurgence of COVID-19, 6.5 billion KRW has been allocated for disaster basic income, living support expenses for COVID-19 inpatients and isolated individuals, and isolation and inpatient treatment costs, sharing the burden with residents.

Additionally, 1.4 billion KRW has been allocated for Imsil-gun’s own public direct payment project to create stable living conditions for farmers and vulnerable groups; 1.4 billion KRW for fertilizer price stabilization to support agricultural product price stability; 500 million KRW for tax-free fuel price stabilization for agriculture and fisheries; 1.07 billion KRW for emergency living support funds for low-income households; and 400 million KRW to support income stabilization funds for bus and taxi drivers.

Major investment projects include 3.7 billion KRW for the construction of access and connecting roads to the Seomjingang Eco Museum, 2.4 billion KRW for the revitalization of the rural hub in Imsil-eup, 1.7 billion KRW for the Cheese Farmland tourism infrastructure, and 1.65 billion KRW for the Okjeongho scenic development.

Other projects include 1.5 billion KRW for road maintenance and expansion, 1.2 billion KRW for Seongsusan tourism development, 1 billion KRW for the installation of a new maternity obstetrics clinic, 1 billion KRW for the maintenance of Osu Uigyeon tourist site, and 1 billion KRW for the installation of scenic and safety facilities at the Okjeongho suspension bridge.

The county has achieved a significant milestone by raising the budget from just 288 billion KRW at the start of the 6th local government administration under Governor Sim Min to over 500 billion KRW in the 7th administration, and now surpassing 600 billion KRW at the beginning of the 8th administration.

Governor Sim Min said, “I would like to thank all the residents for their interest and support that made it possible to enter the era of the largest-ever 650 billion KRW budget,” adding, “We will devote all efforts to opening the era of an 800 billion KRW budget within the term of the 8th local government to firmly support the happiness of our residents.”

Meanwhile, the second supplementary budget will be reviewed and approved during the 321st Imsil County Council extraordinary session starting on the 26th, and will be finalized on the 31st.
