Daegu Mayor Showcases Achievements in 'Water Dispute Resolution'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Hong Joon-pyo, Mayor of Daegu, sharply criticized the internal strife within the People Power Party centered around former leader Lee Jun-seok, saying, "They are engaging in such petty and shabby politics."
On the 19th, Mayor Hong posted on his Facebook, "Despite the public being already annoyed by the heatwave and heavy rain, they are only focused on trivial and petty issues, pointing fingers at each other within the same camp, engaging in shabby politics," he said.
He pointed out, "One side attacks with old sexual misconduct allegations, while the other responds with baseless whining and tantrums," adding, "Stop living so petty. Life is not that long." This was a direct criticism of both the Yoon core group (Yoon Seok-yeol's key associates) opposing former leader Lee and Lee himself.
He also boasted about his achievements as Daegu mayor, saying, "Not wanting to add more petty negotiations, I decisively cut off the water dispute with Gumi." Recently, he has been working to end the 13-year-long 'water dispute' with Gumi City, including deciding to terminate the joint use agreement of the Gumi water intake facility.
