Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Job Fair Held Both Online and Offline... 290 Companies Participating to Hire 2,400 People

Operation of Corporate Recruitment Halls and Special Halls, Revitalizing the Job Market

Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Job Fair Held Both Online and Offline... 290 Companies Participating to Hire 2,400 People

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The job fair for the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions will be held for two weeks from the 22nd to September 2nd.

This fair, expected to revitalize the hiring market that has been stagnant due to COVID-19, is gathering attention for its potential to alleviate the industrial workforce shortage in the southeastern region.

The fair is jointly hosted by Ulsan City, Busan City, Gyeongsangnam-do, Busan Employment and Labor Office, the Bu-Ul-Gyeong Regional Small and Medium Venture Business Administration, and BNK Busan Bank.

Each local government identified a demand for over 2,400 recruits across 290 companies (Busan 150, Ulsan 60, Gyeongnam 80) through job vacancy announcements in July.

While last year’s hiring events were conducted entirely online due to the spread of COVID-19, this year’s fair will be held both online and offline.

The online fair will run for two weeks from the 22nd to September 2nd.

Main events include operation of corporate recruitment booths, employment lectures and recruitment briefings, and presentations by outstanding local companies.

Job seekers can apply for jobs and participate in video interviews based on customized recruitment information at the ‘Bu-Ul-Gyeong Job Fair’ and receive video employment counseling support.

In the Ulsan area, 50 companies in the shipbuilding industry, along with 10 companies in automobile parts manufacturing, petrochemicals, and information and communication sectors, will participate.

The offline fair will be held on the 30th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at BEXCO Exhibition Center 1, Hall 3B, with about 100 companies from Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam expected to participate.

The venue will be organized into corporate recruitment booths, special booths, general booths, and event booths.

Job seekers can have direct interviews through the corporate recruitment booths and check major policies and recruitment information of job agencies through the special and general booths.

In the Ulsan area, to resolve the manpower shortage in shipbuilding, 30 shipbuilding companies (20 Hyundai Heavy Industries partners and 10 Hyundai Mipo Dockyard partners) are expected to participate.

The recruitment positions include fitting, welding, shaping, piping, painting, carpentry, etc., open to both experienced and inexperienced applicants. Additionally, upon final hiring, some companies will provide dormitories and support such as children’s tuition, congratulatory and condolence expenses, and vacation allowances.

To improve accessibility for Ulsan job seekers, two shuttle buses will operate on the day of the event.

The event booth will also offer various side events such as career counseling using tarot cards, one-on-one personal color diagnosis, and image consulting.

The ‘2022 Bu-Ul-Gyeong Job Fair’ was first jointly held last year to provide employment opportunities in specialized occupations by city and province and to strengthen the cooperation between central and local job agencies; this is the second time it is being held. In 2023, it is scheduled to be held in Ulsan.

Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom said in a video greeting, “This event was prepared for companies and job seekers facing difficulties due to the global low-growth trend combined with COVID-19,” adding, “I hope it will be a valuable opportunity to enhance regional industrial competitiveness and benefit both excellent companies and job seekers.”
