[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party mentioned as one of the next party leadership candidates, will hold his fifth study meeting on the 24th. Kim and other leadership candidates, including Ahn Cheol-soo, have been building momentum early through internal party study meetings in preparation for the party convention, which could be held as early as this year.

Originally, it was reported that Ban Ki-moon, former UN Secretary-General, would attend as a speaker at this meeting, but the schedule has changed, and Kim Byung-joon, former chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee's Regional Balanced Development Special Committee, will give a lecture titled "Freedom and Regime Change, and the Issue of Value-based Parties" for about 40 minutes.

During the study meeting, there will also be a heated discussion with the members of the National Assembly regarding the diagnosis and solutions for the current political situation. Attention is focused on whether discussions will arise concerning the People Power Party's transition to a provisional leadership system and former leader Lee Jun-seok's filing of an injunction against the party's provisional leadership.

Kim, a former professor emeritus at Kookmin University, has served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education and Human Resources Development, emergency committee chairman of the Liberty Korea Party, and chairman of the 21st Presidential Transition Committee's Regional Balanced Development Special Committee.
