Seoul City Audit Committee to Decide on Conducting Audit

[Asia Economy Reporter Junyi Park] Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon recently announced that he will review whether TBS (Traffic Broadcasting System) fulfilled its primary duties during the recent heavy rain.

In an interview with Channel A on the 18th, Mayor Oh responded to questions about TBS's broadcasting during the heavy rain, stating, "On rainy days, TBS provided considerable weather forecasts, but the next day, when Seoul citizens commuting in the morning suffered from severe traffic jams, the coverage was insufficient."

He added, "Since there has been a request for an audit from the City Council, we will take this opportunity to examine whether the Traffic Broadcasting System fulfilled its core responsibilities."

The previous day, Lee Jong-bae, a member of the Seoul City Council from the People Power Party, requested an audit from the Seoul City Audit Committee, saying, "Despite the emergency caused by the heavy rain, TBS did not properly conduct disaster broadcasting and continued to air 'Kim Eo-jun's News Factory,' failing to fulfill its responsibilities."

The Seoul City Audit Committee plans to review the request and decide whether to conduct an audit.
