Incheon Airport Corporation Strengthens Air Cargo Competitiveness with Ground Handling Company Swissport International


[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Incheon International Airport Corporation announced on the 18th that it held a mutual cooperation meeting with Swissport International, a global ground handling company, to enhance the sustainable air logistics competitiveness of Incheon Airport.


The cooperation meeting held on the 17th was attended by Kim Kyung-wook, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, Brad Moore, Head of Asia-Oceania Region at Swissport International, and Kim Jong-wook, President of Swissport Korea, along with executives from both companies. They had a meaningful time discussing cooperation measures to strengthen the air logistics competitiveness of Incheon Airport.


In particular, they had in-depth discussions on the expansion of air cargo business and facility investments that Swissport International is promoting to attract new growth and high value-added cargo such as temperature-sensitive cargo, pharmaceuticals, and e-commerce to Incheon Airport.


Swissport International is a global ground handling company that handles cargo at 119 cargo operation facilities in over 45 countries worldwide. Since acquiring shares of Globe Korea in July 2005, it has steadily grown. In 2021, it employed about 700 workers and handled 128,000 tons of cargo annually, establishing itself as a major air logistics company within Incheon Airport.


Kim Kyung-wook, President of Incheon International Airport Corporation, said, “The corporation will fulfill its social responsibility as a public institution by strengthening the air logistics competitiveness of Incheon Airport through attracting investments from global air logistics companies and further revitalizing the local economy through the creation of quality jobs.”
