[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Grand Hyatt Seoul Hotel announced on the 18th that it has appointed Peter Hildbrand as its new General Manager.
Peter Hildbrand, who majored in Economics in Queensland, Australia, and later completed an EMBA at Rutgers University, shared the reason he entered the hotel industry as follows: “At first, I naively found the glamour of hotels attractive and stepped into the industry. But what made me stay was the people I met while working in hotels.” He expressed a special affection for the customers, colleagues, and hotel associates he encountered while working in the hotel industry.
He first connected with Hyatt in 1988 as a bellman at Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove in Australia. The following year, he began Hyatt corporate training courses at Hong Kong Hyatt Regency and Grand Hyatt, building his career in marketing, sales, business planning, and management roles at international hotel brands in Australia, Singapore, China, and other locations.
After serving as hotel manager for three years during the opening of Hyatt on the Bund Shanghai in 2006, he began his first role as General Manager at The Westin Fuzhou. He then led W Hong Kong as General Manager for seven years before joining the Park Hyatt Shenzhen opening team as General Manager in 2018, continuing his relationship with Hyatt.
He contributed to the successful opening of Park Hyatt Shenzhen in 2019, quickly establishing the hotel as a market leader in the region and winning 15 hotel awards within two years of the hotel’s opening.
New General Manager Hildbrand stated, “Hotels are a people-oriented industry,” and added, “My greatest goal as General Manager is to create an environment where colleagues care for each other and grow together.”
He expressed his ambition, saying, “I will strive to draw out the potential of our staff so they can perform at their best, and work to further enhance the reputation of Grand Hyatt Seoul not only domestically but globally, making it a leading luxury hotel in the market.”
