Job Creation Utilizing Local Resources, Developing Hapcheon to Attract Youth
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 18th that it has secured a total of 14 billion KRW in local extinction response funds over two years, 6 billion KRW in 2022 and 8 billion KRW in 2023, to overcome the crisis of local extinction and create a vibrant city.
The local extinction response fund is supported with an annual government contribution of 1 trillion KRW for the next 10 years starting this year, targeting population decline areas and areas of interest designated and announced by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and is distributed differentially according to the investment plans of local governments.
To secure the local extinction response fund, the county established a business plan presenting the vision of "Young New-Hapcheon Opening the Future," with promotion strategies including ▲job creation utilizing local resources ▲creating Hapcheon that attracts youth ▲releasing Hapcheon Only One charm.
The secured local extinction response fund will actively promote projects with the core theme of youth start-ups and settlement, such as ▲construction of happy housing for young newlyweds ▲fostering youth start-ups in handcrafted local food ▲establishment of forest stay-type youth start-up centers ▲creation of field-type memory filling farms.
County Governor Kim Yoon-cheol said, “We will actively promote the local extinction response fund project, which is being implemented for the first time this year, to create a hopeful future for Hapcheon,” and added, “Starting this year, we will establish investment plans annually for 10 years and secure funds, actively discovering and promoting projects needed by the region to overcome population decline and local extinction issues.”
