106 Applicants for 15 Positions... Public Drawing Conducted with Regional Allocation
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] On the 17th, Muan County in Jeollanam-do held a public lottery for 15 residents to form a Public Pledge Implementation Evaluation Group to review the fulfillment of the campaign pledges of the 8th elected Muan County Governor.
The county conducted an open recruitment from the 1st to the 15th for the pledge implementation evaluation group to assess the progress and fulfillment of the 8th elected Muan County Governor's campaign pledges. A total of 106 applicants applied for the 15 available positions, showing a high competition rate of over 7:1 on average.
The public lottery was held in the county office meeting room. To ensure fairness, three applicants who wished to observe were selected as observers from among the pledge implementation evaluation group applicants, and all other applicants who wished to observe were allowed to watch the entire lottery process, which was fully open to the public.
To ensure regional balance, the number of selected members per town and township was determined proportionally to the number of applicants. Samhyang-eup, which had the highest number of applicants, selected 4 members; Muan-eup, Illo-eup, and Hyeongyeong-myeon each selected 2 members; and other regions selected 1 member each.
Governor Kim San said, “I believe many residents participated in the recruitment of the pledge implementation evaluation group because of their high interest in county administration. We will do our best to ensure that the pledges promised to the residents are well implemented within the term.”
Meanwhile, the 8th elected Muan County has decided to expand the pledge implementation evaluation group from the existing 15 members to 30 members, and among them, 15 were selected through a public lottery to ensure democratic legitimacy in the pledge evaluation.
