'DMZ Peace Road' Ganghwa-gun Route to Open from Next Month 16 DMZ Peace Road Ganghwa-gun Themed Route [Provided by Incheon City]


[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City announced on the 18th that it will open the 'DMZ Peace Road' themed route near the Demilitarized Zone in Ganghwa-gun from September 16 to December 18.


The Ganghwa-gun route covers a 61.1km section including a 1.5km walking trail along the barbed wire fence featuring Ganghwa War Museum, Ganghwa Peace Observatory, Uidubuncho, Buljangdondae, and Daeryong Market, with an estimated duration of 4 hours and 30 minutes. Visitors can listen to explanations from a tour guide during the walk.


The DMZ Peace Road, operated since 2019 to ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula, consists of 10 routes spanning 526km from Ganghwa-gun in Incheon to Goseong-gun in Gangwon Province.


Applications for participation can be made from the 23rd on the online website operated by the Korea Tourism Organization.


To prevent unauthorized cancellations, a participation fee of 10,000 KRW per person is charged, but it can be refunded in the form of local gift certificates, regional currency, or specialty products.


Meanwhile, besides this themed route course, visitors can experience the unique charm of Ganghwa by exploring Ganghwa Nadeulgil, where they can see Yeonmijeong where the Han River and Imjin River meet, Gyodong Manghyangdae with a panoramic view of North Korea, and royal tombs from the Goryeo Dynasty.
