HDC Hyundai Development Company, which has caused controversy due to a series of building collapse accidents, has launched the 'Construction Innovation Team' to revamp its safety and quality technical competitiveness. Professor Park Hong-geun of Seoul National University, the top authority in domestic structural and quality fields, will serve as the head of the team.

On the 18th, HDC Hyundai Development Company announced that it held the inauguration ceremony for the Construction Innovation Team, led by Professor Park Hong-geun, the previous day.

The Construction Innovation Team is an independent decision-making organization composed of experts from various fields inside and outside the company, aiming to "secure safety and quality technical competitiveness through professional monitoring and feedback."

Led by Team Head Park Hong-geun, a professor in the Department of Architecture at Seoul National University and president of the Korean Concrete Institute, Executive Director Park Ho-jong, with 34 years of construction site experience, serves as deputy head. Experts in construction and safety fields, including structural, temporary facilities, and concrete quality, from both inside and outside the company participate in the activities.

Professor Park Hong-geun, who serves as the head, is currently a full professor in the Department of Architecture at the College of Engineering, Seoul National University, and is regarded as the top expert in domestic architectural structural engineering, including structural design and analysis and concrete engineering.

At the inauguration ceremony, Professor Park Hong-geun said, "The introduction of future-oriented engineering technologies, automated design, and maintenance technologies is an inevitable trend in the Fourth Industrial Revolution era for construction sites. However, efforts to secure fundamental quality at the site are equally important." He added, "I will spare no advice to improve construction quality from an expert perspective and strive to make the Construction Innovation Team a driving force for the long-term development of HDC Hyundai Development Company."

The Construction Innovation Team plans to objectively verify and supplement the safety and quality systems of the construction and CSO organizations and innovate construction management at the sites to enhance competitiveness. It will focus on two strategic tasks: strengthening the effectiveness of safety and quality policies and diagnosis and improvement from an objective perspective.

The key tasks include ▲ inspecting and providing feedback on the implementation of safety and quality-related policies and discovering safety and quality innovation tasks ▲ joint inspections of ready-mixed concrete plants and proposing quality assurance measures to improve ready-mixed concrete and concrete quality ▲ diagnosing construction safety at high-risk sites and preparing improvement measures ▲ quality management and application of excellent technologies to strengthen the construction safety capabilities of partner companies. The Construction Innovation Team plans to actively cooperate with construction-related professional organizations, academic societies, and partner companies to enhance construction safety capabilities and apply the latest technologies.

Meanwhile, HDC Hyundai Development Company has been strengthening related organizations by appointing a CSO in February and recruiting external structural experts and safety management experts. It is also enhancing safety and quality technical competitiveness and establishing a proactive accident prevention system aiming for ZERO serious accidents through developing risk management programs and operating an integrated CCTV control center.
