[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 17th that it will promote the ‘2022 Korea Safety Paradigm Shift Intensive Safety Inspection’ to prevent safety accidents by identifying and improving defects and risk factors in various facilities within the region in advance.
This safety inspection, which will be conducted until October 14, will be carried out as a public-private joint inspection by 32 related officials and safety management advisory group members at 110 locations, including 32 construction sites, 19 apartment complexes, and 9 sports facilities within Seo-gu, to enhance expertise.
In particular, for the first time this year, to promote safety inspections in communication with residents, a ‘Facility Inspection Resident Application System’ was introduced, allowing residents to directly participate by applying for inspections of small-scale, life-related private sector facilities such as senior centers, welfare centers, and landslide-prone areas.
Additionally, for accurate inspections, scientific equipment such as drones and thermal cameras will be used to inspect risk factors such as ground subsidence, falling rocks, and collapses at one energy facility and two landslide-prone facilities where visual inspection is difficult.
Minor issues found during facility inspections will be immediately corrected, and if serious defects or risk factors are discovered, necessary measures such as emergency repairs, reinforcement, or usage restrictions will be taken. The results of the inspections and follow-up actions will be recorded and systematically managed using the National Safety Diagnosis Management System.
Meanwhile, to ensure thorough inspections, Seo-gu held the first briefing session on the preparation for the ‘2022 Intensive Safety Inspection for Safety Paradigm Shift’ on the 12th, chaired by the Deputy Mayor.
A Seo-gu Office official stated, “Safety management of facilities is important, and we will strive to effectively carry out the intensive safety inspections and secure residents’ safety through thorough follow-up measures.”
