Daejeon City Rewards Whistleblowers Reporting Cargo Truck Load Safety Violations

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Daejeon City announced on the 17th that it will pay a reward of 100,000 KRW to those who report cargo trucks that fail to implement safety measures for their loads.

Earlier, the city revised the "Daejeon City Cargo Truck Transportation Business Act Violation Reward Payment Ordinance" to provide for reward payments, which was promulgated and enforced on the 12th.

The ordinance was amended to reflect the revisions to the "Cargo Truck Transportation Business Act" and to prevent the frequently occurring accidents involving falling cargo loads.

The reporting targets are cargo trucks that have not taken necessary measures such as covers, packaging, or securing devices to prevent the loaded cargo from falling.

Reports can be made by submitting a report form along with evidence proving the violation to the district office or police station either in person or by mail.

The reward will be paid when the reported case is confirmed as a violation and administrative action is finalized. However, if there are multiple reporters for the same violation, the reward will be paid to the first reporter, and the total reward paid to the same individual is limited to 1,000,000 KRW per year.

Im Jae-jin, Director of the Transportation and Construction Bureau of the city, said, "Since improper loading is a serious safety threat to citizens, we will minimize blind spots," and added, "We ask for citizens' interest and active reporting."
