[Asia Economy Reporter Bae Kyunghwan] President Yoon Seok-yeol stated on the 17th regarding the decline in government approval ratings, "I will humbly accept the public sentiment reflected in the polls rather than focusing on the approval ratings themselves."

At his first press conference held in the briefing room of the Yongsan Presidential Office on the same day, President Yoon was asked about the drop in government approval ratings. He responded, "I will meticulously and thoroughly examine the various issues pointed out from the perspective of the people." He continued, "I have been fully engaged with pressing issues for about 100 days since my inauguration and have had no time to reflect, but I will review everything during this vacation," adding, "I plan to carefully identify any problems in the operation and implementation of organizations, policies, and tasks, as well as any issues in communication."

Regarding personnel reshuffles, he said, "It is something that must be very carefully reviewed to serve the people and manage their livelihood," emphasizing, "It should not be done with political objectives such as changing the political situation or boosting approval ratings," and added, "It seems time will be needed."

When asked whether he would continue the doorstepping (Q&A on the way to work) despite controversies over his attitude and answers shown during it, he replied, "I will continue to do it." President Yoon explained, "The biggest reason for moving the presidential office to Yongsan was doorstepping," and said, "If the public tells me not to do it, I cannot, but since our country is a liberal democracy and a presidential system, I believe the president’s duties should be transparently revealed to the people and that the president should receive sharp criticism and various feedback from the public."
