[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] NCSoft's North American subsidiary NCWest will launch "Guild Wars 2" on the global game distribution platform Steam on the 23rd (local time).
Guild Wars 2 is a PC online MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) developed by ArenaNet, NC's North American development studio. Since its release in 2012, it has secured 16 million users worldwide and is a million-seller title that has surpassed 1 trillion KRW in cumulative sales. In February of this year, a new expansion pack was released, achieving sales 70% higher than the same period last year and 34% higher than the previous quarter in Q2.
New Steam users can play the game on the same servers as existing Guild Wars 2 users. It is available in four languages: English, French, German, and Spanish.
NCWest will release the "Complete Collection," which allows Steam users to enjoy all expansion packs and content of Guild Wars 2. Users who purchase the collection can enjoy three expansion packs ▲Heart of Thorns ▲Path of Fire ▲End of Dragons, as well as five seasons of the story expansion content Living World. NCWest also released a new trailer video along with the Steam launch announcement.
ArenaNet Studio Director John Taylor stated, "We hope that more global users can enjoy the innovative fantasy world unique to Guild Wars 2, built over the past 10 years, through the Steam service."
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Guild Wars 2, a community event for users will be held during the European game exhibition "Gamescom 2022." The event to celebrate the 10th anniversary with the Guild Wars 2 development team will take place in Cologne, Germany, on August 25.
