The send-off ceremony will be attended by Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, Yeom Myeong-guk, Chairman of the Ulsan Skills Competition Committee Operations Committee (Head of Sanin-gong Ulsan Branch), Technical Chairman Jo Hae-hyun, athlete representatives, Seo Jeong-ryeon, Director of Future Education at the Education Office, and 13 others.
The event will proceed with the registration of the Ulsan athletes participating in the "57th National Skills Competition" and the presentation of the competition committee flag.
The Ulsan City athletes participating in this competition were selected at the local skills competition held last April and have been honing their skills to participate in the national competition despite difficult circumstances such as the resurgence of COVID-19 and heat waves.
Ulsan City has also worked hard to nurture the athletes by discovering local industry-customized job categories and selecting strategic job categories to provide special training support.
The 57th National Skills Competition will be held for eight days from August 29 to September 5 at eight venues including the Changwon Convention Center in Gyeongsangnam-do.
In Ulsan City, 61 athletes will compete in 27 job categories aiming to win 1 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze medals.
Medals, prize money, and exemptions from the practical test for the industrial engineer certification in the respective job categories will be awarded to winners of this competition, and they will have the opportunity to participate in the International Skills Olympics through the national representative selection evaluation.
Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom said, "I hope everyone prioritizes health management and demonstrates their skills to the fullest to achieve good results," adding, "The city will actively seek support measures to nurture excellent skilled workers who are the driving force of industrial development."
