[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Young-won] PCL announced on the 17th that its sales in the first half of this year reached 31.1 billion KRW, a 43.9% increase compared to the same period last year, with an operating profit of 4.3 billion KRW and a net profit of 16.6 billion KRW, successfully turning profitable.
The growth in PCL's first-half sales was driven by COVID-19 diagnostic kits. In April, PCL received approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety for the country's first COVID-19 saliva self-test kit. Currently, PCL's saliva self-test kits are sold at pharmacies, convenience stores, and large supermarkets. In the first quarter, the sales were led by the COVID-19 professional rapid antigen kits.
PCL stated that it is preparing for the approval and sales of the PCLOK II ABC reagent, which can rapidly perform multiplex diagnosis of diseases such as influenza and COVID-19 on-site, in preparation for the resurgence of COVID-19 along with the flu this winter. Additionally, they have launched the PCLOK II SARS-CoV-2 DualIgG, a clinic-use on-site diagnostic reagent that simultaneously detects N antibodies indicating past COVID-19 infection and S antibodies obtained through vaccination.
Furthermore, as part of Morocco's national healthcare project, which PCL has been participating in since June, the company is exporting large blood screening equipment, on-site rapid diagnostic devices, COVID-19 diagnostic product lines, and is preparing for the overall installation of diagnostic medical systems locally.
Kim So-yeon, CEO of PCL, stated, "PCL's future new growth engine is related to developing new systems in the biohealth field," adding, "Through digital platforms, we will enable people and companion animals to easily, safely, and continuously receive health-related services."
