Start of Service for Eco-friendly Ship Cooperation Complex Project

Fostering Electric Propulsion Powertrain System Packages and More

Ulsan City Launches Presidential Regional Pledge Project for 'Electric Propulsion Future Ships' Ulsan City Hall.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Ulsan City has launched a project to foster the future shipbuilding industry.

The city has begun establishing an implementation plan for the "Electric Propulsion System Eco-friendly Ship Cooperation Complex," selected as a regional balanced development pledge by President Yoon Seok-yeol.

On the 17th at 10 a.m., Ulsan City announced that it will hold a kickoff meeting for the planning and service of the "Green Ship Cluster Development Project" in the international conference room on the 4th floor of the main building.

The meeting will be attended by more than 20 officials from 12 institutions and companies, including Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology, and Hyundai Heavy Industries Group. It will proceed with task proposals, task execution plans, task management plan presentations, and Q&A sessions with related organizations.

The service is scheduled to be completed by December 15, with key contents including the necessity of project promotion, domestic and international status investigation and analysis, preparation of technical overview documents for detailed tasks, and establishment of basic plans for demonstration infrastructure construction and operation.

Through this service, Ulsan City plans to find a method to select the electric propulsion system eco-friendly ship cooperation complex project.

Ulsan City aims to re-emerge as a global-level future ship technology leading city by system-packaging core equipment for electric propulsion system ships and establishing an integrated performance verification system.

Various projects such as "ICT Convergence Electric Propulsion Smart Ship Construction and Demonstration" and "Autonomous Smart Ship Test Operation Center Construction" are already underway as part of the electrification and digital transformation of electric propulsion autonomous ships.

This project was finally selected as a regional pledge project of the current government by planning a shipbuilding industry co-growth ecosystem linked with the super metropolitan area, including collecting and securing maritime digital navigation data through existing projects and establishing an environment where core equipment of electric propulsion ships can be integrated and demonstrated on land.
