[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Su-yeon] Yoo Young-sang, CEO of SK Telecom, emerged as the 'salary king' among the CEOs of the top three mobile carriers in the first half of the year, receiving the highest compensation.
According to the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on the 16th, CEO Yoo received a total of 1.586 billion KRW in the first half of this year. This includes a salary of 550 million KRW, bonuses of 1.024 billion KRW, and other labor income of 12 million KRW. The bonuses were calculated based on performance during his tenure as head of the Mobile Network Operator (MNO) business last year and after his appointment as CEO in November.
Park Jung-ho, Vice Chairman of SK Telecom and concurrently Vice Chairman and CEO of SK Square and Vice Chairman and CEO of SK Hynix, received compensation amounting to 2.8 billion KRW in the first half. This includes bonuses of 2.106 billion KRW, stock option exercise gains of 670 million KRW, and other labor income of 25 million KRW. Meanwhile, Park’s salary is settled according to the operational standards agreed upon by SK Telecom, SK Square, and SK Hynix.
KT CEO Koo Hyun-mo received the lowest compensation among the top three mobile carriers in the first half, totaling 1.274 billion KRW. His salary was 278 million KRW, bonuses were 973 million KRW, and other labor income was 23 million KRW.
LG Uplus CEO Hwang Hyun-sik received 1.585 billion KRW in the first half. His salary was 688 million KRW, bonuses were 896 million KRW, and other labor income was 1 million KRW.
SK Telecom also ranked first in employee salaries. The highest average salary per employee was at SK Telecom, with an average of 81 million KRW per person. LG Uplus followed with 54 million KRW, and KT with 49 million KRW.
