Kim Hyun-joon, President of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), said at his retirement ceremony held on the afternoon of the 16th at the LH Jinju Headquarters auditorium, "I hope that LH will wisely overcome the current crisis and emerge as a national public corporation leading 'a better life for the people' and 'a better tomorrow for our society.'"
President Kim Hyun-joon entered public service in 1991 after passing the 35th Administrative Examination and has held key positions such as Director of the National Tax Service Investigation Bureau, Commissioner of the Seoul Regional Tax Office, and Commissioner of the National Tax Service. He was appointed as the 5th President of LH in April last year, shortly after the real estate speculation scandal.
After taking office, he introduced measures such as mandatory asset registration for all employees to address the land speculation scandal and established systems to prevent the recurrence of corruption related to real estate speculation. He also launched the LH Innovation Committee and the Active Administration Committee to reform the organization.
At the retirement ceremony, President Kim said, "I took office during a time when LH was facing an existential crisis, and I have run tirelessly with a heavy sense of responsibility solely for reform and innovation."
Last year, LH achieved the highest operating profit among public institutions with 5.6 trillion won and improved financial soundness by reducing its debt scale. The debt ratio in 2021 was 221%, down 13 percentage points from 2020.
Last year, LH focused on expanding housing supply to stabilize national housing, significantly increasing the number of houses supplied. The total number of sale and rental houses supplied by LH last year was about 138,000 units, an increase of approximately 25,000 units compared to 113,000 units in 2020. In addition, about 32,000 units were supplied through public pre-sale programs.
